About MakeATrail

MakeATrail plans running routes anywhere in the world. It runs entirely in your browser: map data comes from OpenStreetMap through OpenFreeMap vector tiles (with the Overpass API as a fallback), popularity from public OpenStreetMap GPS traces, and elevation from the AWS Terrain Tiles open dataset. The routing algorithm is our own.

• Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the ODbL.
• Basemap: OpenFreeMap, © OpenMapTiles, data from OpenStreetMap.
• Running trails: © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL.
• Elevation: Mapzen Terrain Tiles on AWS (SRTM, GMTED, ETOPO1 and others).
• Place search: Nominatim.

Routes are suggestions. Check that paths are open and safe before you run.
